Our founder, Mr. P Tanna, embarked on his textiles journey in the 1960s in Kampala, Uganda. However, due to the Ugandan Asian Exodus in 1972, Mr. Tanna was forced to leave everything behind. Seeking safety and new opportunities, Mr. Tanna moved to Leicester, UK, a city recognized as a hub for the UK textiles industry.
Leicester’s rich history in textiles provided the perfect backdrop for Mr. Tanna to rebuild his life and career. Here, he not only contributed significantly to the local economy but also became an integral part of the resurgence of British business in the sector. His expertise, honed over years of experience in Uganda, allowed him to quickly establish a foothold in the industry, laying the groundwork for what would eventually become J & P Supplies UK LTD.
